Built so you think about the sport, not the fuel.

Thaw comes from ultra running and gravel cycling — hours deep into a ride or a race where every gel tasted like the ingredient list looked: unreadable. Fuelling shouldn't be another thing to think about mid-effort. It should just work, and get out of the way.

So Thaw is built stripped-back on purpose: real citrus, real electrolytes, nothing you'd need to look up. No lab-built sweeteners, no gums for "mouthfeel." Just what your body's actually asking for — frozen when you need cooling, liquid when you don't.

We’re building Thaw to be the cleanest frozen gel on the market: seven purposeful ingredients, no gums, no dyes, and a frozen format made specifically to cool you down while it fuels the work.

In a small controlled study of 10 trained men, an ice slurry consumed before exercise increased submaximal running time to exhaustion by 19% ± 6% compared with 4°C cold water in 34°C heat. This supports ice-slurry pre-cooling as a strategy; it is not a guaranteed performance gain, and Thaw itself has not been clinically tested.

Why it's built this way

Cane sugar splits into near-equal glucose and fructose on digestion — landing inside the research-backed range for maximising carb uptake without GI distress, no maltodextrin needed.

Magnesium glycinate is absorbed through the gut wall rather than pulling water in by osmosis — the mechanism behind the laxative effect some electrolyte products cause mid-ride.

Is it shelf-stable right now?+
Yes. The current formula is shelf-stable at room temperature — no fridge or freezer needed. Freezer versions are on the roadmap once we've got proper cold-chain distribution sorted.
Can I freeze it myself at home?+
Yep — the pouch is freezer-safe, so if you want to try it as a frozen treat on a hot day, just pop it in the freezer. Let it thaw a little before your ride if you want it drinkable straight away.
How much sugar and sodium is in each pouch?+
30g carbohydrate and around 300mg sodium per standard 90ml pouch — full breakdown is in the Formula section above. These are our working numbers from home testing; the final on-pack panel will be confirmed after lab validation.
